MyCampus Privacy Policy
Effective October 7, 2026
MyCampus LLC ("MyCampus," "we," "us," or "our") operates joinmycampus.com and related student posting services. This Policy explains how we handle personal information when you browse our website, begin a submission, create an account, purchase a service, contact us, or request publication through a campus account we operate. MyCampus is an independent service, not an official school service unless expressly stated.
1. Information we collect
Information you provide. We collect your name, phone number and verification records; an email address if you choose to provide one; school, class year, interests, social handles and other profile or post details; photos, captions, bios and other submissions; selected publication destinations; account preferences; support, moderation and safety communications; and purchase, cancellation, refund and consent records.
We collect drafts and uploads before signup, even if you never finish or publish. We use them to save your work and operate submissions. A draft does not authorize public posting, promotion or reminder messages. You may request draft deletion without an account; we may need details to locate it and verify your request. Do not upload unnecessary sensitive information or others' information without permission.
A verified phone number is required to create an account. Providing a real email address is optional, including at payment. We do not require a birth date, birth year, or government ID as part of ordinary signup.
Information collected automatically. We collect information about your browser and device, IP address, approximate location derived from IP, referring pages, sessions, pages viewed, clicks, feature use, submission and checkout events, and technical errors and security signals. Cookies, local storage and similar technologies support authentication, preferences, security, analytics and operation of the Service.
Information from others. We receive information from payment, hosting, authentication, analytics, communications and publishing providers, and from people who report concerns or communicate with us. We may review public social information to fulfill a requested post, operate a campus page, investigate abuse or provide support. We also receive customer information associated with the businesses contributed to MyCampus, subject to the protections described in Section 10.
2. Why we use information
We use information to create and protect accounts; save and manage submissions; manually review and publish requested posts; process payments and administer subscriptions, cancellations and refunds; provide support; investigate reports and enforce our rules; maintain security; understand and improve the Service; send communications described below; and satisfy legal and accounting obligations.
We obtain additional permission where required by law. Acceptance of our Terms or acknowledgment of this Policy does not replace separate consent where it is required for an optional use.
3. Public posts and profiles
Published website posts do not have an automatic one-year expiration. They may remain public while the account is active, subject to removal requests, account deletion, moderation and applicable legal requirements. This does not mean we retain inactive accounts or other personal information indefinitely; retention is addressed in Section 9.
When you submit a post for public publication and it is approved, we publish it on one or more of the network channels disclosed in your submission and offer. These can include the MyCampus website feed, a participating Instagram campus account and an available MyCampus app. The standard service does not guarantee publication on every channel. The information submitted for publication, such as photos, captions, bio, school, class year, interests and social handles, becomes public. Our team manually reviews submissions and may correct an obvious typo or crop or resize media for formatting. Substantive changes require your request or approval.
Before your post is first published on an included network channel, you may request an edit or withdrawal through support. Sending a request does not itself confirm that publication has stopped; we cannot guarantee stopping a pending post before it goes live. Applicable rights remain available. After publication, you may request removal of the MyCampus website copy. We do not guarantee edits or routine removal of the Instagram post; privacy, safety, rights and legally required removal requests remain available through support. Public content can be copied, indexed, screenshotted or reposted by others. We can remove content from systems we control but cannot guarantee removal of third-party copies or search caches. Instagram and other external platforms handle information under their own policies.
4. Promotion and permission
Your requested campus publication and student-feed appearance are part of the posting service. We ask separately before using your identifiable content in promotion, and do not use identifiable content of anyone under 18 for that purpose. If we invite you to be featured, we collect your written confirmation that you are 18 or older and have the necessary rights, together with your permission for the specified content and uses. We do not infer adult status from missing age information or a 16+ eligibility confirmation.
We retain the request, your response, the selected content reference, permitted uses and any later withdrawal as needed to document and honor your choices. This permission process is separate from ordinary signup. Contact support to withdraw promotional permission; we stop future use and remove controlled promotional material where reasonably possible, as explained in our Terms. Applicable privacy and removal rights remain available.
5. Who receives information
We disclose information to:
- Service providers supporting hosting, storage, authentication, analytics, communications, payment processing, security, support and publishing. These providers process information needed for their respective functions on our behalf or under their applicable payment or platform terms.
- Authorized staff, contractors and campus-account operators who need access for their work.
- Instagram or Meta to publish and manage the post you requested, and the public when you choose public publication.
- Professional advisers, payment and fraud partners, and authorities or other parties when required by law or reasonably necessary to protect safety, enforce rights or address unlawful activity.
- Parties involved in a business transfer, subject to applicable privacy protections and any notice or consent required by law.
Sponsors receive aggregate campaign reporting, such as reach, views, clicks and campus engagement. We do not sell, rent or provide student contact lists or messaging-consent records to sponsors, affiliates or other businesses for independent marketing. Necessary providers may process contact information for our authorized services, without permission to use it for their own marketing. A lawful business transfer does not create new messaging consent or remove privacy commitments.
We do not currently use paid advertising pixels or cross-site advertising retargeting. These statements do not describe every disclosure to a vendor as legally exempt from state privacy requirements.
6. Analytics and session replay
We use PostHog for product analytics, identified user profiles, feature flags, error and performance monitoring, and session replay. Information associated with analytics can include account identifiers, name and email when available, device information, and page and feature activity. Session replay reconstructs interactions with our website to help us understand problems. We use input masking to limit what is recorded; masking does not make all analytics anonymous.
You can control cookies through your browser, although blocking necessary cookies can affect login and other functions. Contact support about privacy choices. Where applicable law requires an opt-out mechanism, consent or recognition of an opt-out preference signal, we provide and honor it. A browser's older Do Not Track setting is different from a legally recognized opt-out preference signal such as Global Privacy Control.
7. Email and text messages
Phone verification authorizes the requested code, not recurring messages. Optional service texts and marketing require the applicable enrollment described in our SMS Terms. Purchase-encouraging reminders are marketing. Marketing consent is optional and not required for an account, free posting or purchase. Signup does not enroll you in sponsored offers or a separate messaging agent.
Reply STOP or contact support to withdraw SMS consent. We do not bypass opt-outs with another number or a service label. Any resumption requires a lawful request or consent and must comply with provider restrictions. Necessary messaging providers may process contact information; they cannot use it for their own marketing.
If you provide an email after a clear disclosure, we may send MyCampus marketing subject to applicable consent requirements. Use the unsubscribe link to stop it. Necessary account, security, legal, billing and requested support messages may continue. Promotions and optional reminders remain subject to marketing choices.
8. Payments
Stripe processes payment details. MyCampus receives and retains information needed to manage transactions, such as customer and transaction identifiers, amount, purchased offer, subscription status, dates, refunds and disputes. Do not send full payment-card details to support. Stripe also handles information under its own privacy policy.
9. Retention and deletion
We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected. Relevant criteria include whether a draft or account remains active, the time needed to resolve a support or moderation matter, legal and accounting requirements, and the need to document consent, prevent fraud or address disputes. We delete or deidentify information when it is no longer needed, subject to lawful holds and backup cycles.
To request account deletion, contact support. After reasonable verification of the request, we promptly disable account access, cancel active MyCampus subscriptions, and delete the profile, unpublished drafts and published student posts from the MyCampus website and active systems, subject to the limited retention described below. We may retain limited payment, tax, fraud, dispute, consent, security, safety and legal records where still necessary. Backup copies expire through the applicable backup cycle and are protected from ordinary use.
Account deletion does not automatically delete posts published on Instagram, and those copies may remain public. We do not guarantee post-publication editing or routine removal through Meta. For privacy, safety, rights or legally required removal requests, contact support and identify the post or account; you can include the request with account deletion. We honor applicable legal removal rights on accounts and systems we operate, but cannot guarantee erasure of independent copies held by others. Legacy subscriptions billed by another business must be canceled through that business's billing system. Our support team can help route those requests.
10. Legacy customer information
MyCampus receives and uses customer information from the contributed businesses to continue the service and provide centralized support. A transfer of data does not remove applicable privacy protections or automatically authorize a materially different use. We honor applicable commitments made when information was collected and provide additional notice or obtain consent when required.
A legacy subscription may remain billed by the original business. This Policy does not change the customer's original billing arrangement or establish that a legacy customer accepted new contract terms.
11. Your privacy requests
Email support@joinmycampus.com to request access, correction, deletion or a copy of your personal information. Depending on your residence and which laws apply, you may also have rights to opt out of sale, sharing, targeted advertising or certain profiling, limit certain sensitive-information uses, obtain information about recipients, or appeal a denied request. We honor rights that apply to you and do not unlawfully discriminate for exercising them.
Describe the request and enough information to locate the relevant account or submission. You do not need to create an account to make a request. We may verify identity or an authorized agent's authority using information proportionate to the request. Do not send passwords, verification codes or government ID unless we arrange a secure and necessary verification method. We respond within applicable legal deadlines and explain a denial when required. To appeal, reply to the decision or email support with “Privacy appeal.” You may also contact your state privacy regulator or attorney general.
California registered users under 18 may request removal of content they posted by emailing support with their account information and the content or URL to remove. Removal does not guarantee complete deletion from every system, and statutory exceptions may apply, including material reposted by others.
12. Minors
Accounts and submission services are for people at least 16. If we learn that an account holder is under 16, we suspend active use and address the information under applicable law. We do not knowingly collect personal information online from children under 13 in violation of the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act. If we learn of such collection, we stop the affected processing and delete the information as required, subject to any legally permitted retention. A parent or guardian may report a concern to support.
The information a user provides, or a report we receive, may identify them as a minor even if signup did not collect a birth date. We apply additional protections required for minors' information. Being eligible for an account does not provide blanket permission for optional analytics or marketing.
13. Security and international processing
We use administrative, technical and organizational safeguards designed to protect information. No service can guarantee perfect security. We provide incident notices required by law.
MyCampus operates in the United States. Service providers may process information in the United States and other countries where they operate. This does not waive privacy rights that apply to you.
14. Changes and contact
We post updated versions of this Policy with their effective date and provide additional notice or request consent when legally required. A policy update does not itself authorize a use that requires separate consent.
